Beata Gutman, Founding Partner
Beata Gutman has spent the last two decades at the intersection of international development, foreign direct investment, corporate sustainability and social impact. She is an entrepreneur, pioneer in impact ventures & investments and an executive producer. She has served as a senior advisor to world-recognized corporate, government, multilateral and philanthropic leaders.
She is the founder & CEO of Grasshopper, an incubator and advisory firm which partners with impact-driven startups, corporate ventures, and nonprofit initiatives to attempt to accelerate their growth and realize a more resilient future. She has grown Grasshopper’s in-house upcycling operation into a circular fashion brand, HOP, which will create clothing from discarded materials from the world’s leading brands from its home base in Italy. She is also a founding partner of Grasshopper Film, an Academy Award winning film distributor of over 400 independent, foreign and documentary films. She is also an executive producer, alongside business partner Ryan Krivoshey, for Correspondent Productions, currently producing mission-driven documentaries and narrative features.
She founded Humankind Capital, a fund investing in companies with potential for rapid growth applying the principles of the circular economy. The Fund leans on Ms. Gutman’s record as an innovator in impact investing. She has helped start and grow dozens of successful startups, nonprofit organizations and corporate ventures. Her portfolio spans global issues to include: clean energy & climate action, renewable infrastructure, public health, aerospace, digital inclusion, food systems, human rights, urban planning, workforce development and more. She is also a strategist for Fortune 100 companies, counseling clients through tipping points in business operations and leading them toward sustainable growth and conscious leadership.
Ms. Gutman was born in Odesa, Ukraine before relocating to New York. Last year, she founded the Humankind for Ukraine initiative to restore dignity to displaced Ukrainians and seek justice for those affected by the war, a program within the Humankind nonprofit platform.
